Elon Musk says he “still can’t believe” that his “Department of Government Efficiency” that President-elect Donald Trump tapped him to guide earlier this month “is real.”

The billionaire Tesla CEO was appointed by Trump to move the newly created division, also referred to as DOGE, within the politician’s second administration alongside biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. (Ramaswamy holds shares in BuzzFeed, HuffPost’s mum or dad firm.)

The proposed advisory fee, which isn’t an official authorities division, has garnered blended reactions and sparked issues about the way it will function.

In a put up shared on his social media platform, X, previously known as Twitter, on Sunday, Musk wrote, “I still can’t believe @DOGE is real,” alongside a number of crying-laughing emojis.

“But I think it’s actually going to work,” he added in a follow-up put up.

Trump has described DOGE as an effort to “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies” in a put up on his social media platform, Truth Social. He has not detailed how it will likely be staffed or funded.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a loyal supporter of Trump, was just lately tapped to move a brand new House subcommittee that may work along with DOGE.

In a press release, Greene stated if accepted for the brand new place, “our subcommittee will provide transparency and truth to the American people through hearings,” in response to ABC News.

“The goal of DOGE is to bring accountability and GUT useless government agencies,” she added.

Ramaswamy echoed Greene’s promise to chop monetary and bureaucratic waste whereas showing on Fox News’ ”Sunday Morning Futures” final week.

“We expect certain agencies to be deleted outright,” Ramaswamy stated. “We expect mass reductions in force in areas of the federal government that are bloated. We expect massive cuts among federal contractors and others who are overbilling the federal government.”
