Anti-money laundering authority

The Italian was nominated by the European Parliament with 103 votes in favour.

The joint Econ and Libe commissions of the European Parliament have voted in favor of the proposal to nominate the Italian Bruna Szego as president of the brand new EU anti-money laundering authority, Amla.

There have been 103 votes in favour, 10 in opposition to and eight abstentions. The nomination will now go to the vote of the European Chamber in plenary on 18 December and can then be adopted by the EU Council in January in response to expectations.

At the top of November it had already been introduced that Szego’s public affirmation listening to was scheduled for December sixteenth.

The alternative of the long-time Bank of Italy official by all European political teams (with the only real exception of the minority objection requested by the EPP), most popular to the candidates of Holland and Germany, was welcomed with satisfaction by the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti (video), who in current months has been working secretly on the file and the Italian candidacy.

The public listening to earlier than the MEPs was held after the formalization of the identify of the Italian by Ursula von der Leyen’s new Commission.
