When drummer John Bonham died in 1980, Led Zeppelin was executed.

Apart from a few one-off exhibits, which concluded with the 2007 Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in London with Jason Bonham on drums, the world’s best-selling band, after The Beatles and Queen, known as it quits for good.

But now surviving members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have reunited in an epic first: not again on stage, however on the large display screen.

In an unprecedented transfer, the trio are speaking heads within the first-ever authorised Led Zeppelin documentary movie.

Becoming Led Zeppelin charts the band’s origins and rise to international stardom and will probably be launched in cinemas this February.

The movie’s official synopsis reads: “Becoming Led Zeppelin explores the origins of this iconic group and their meteoric rise in just one year against all the odds. Powered by awe-inspiring, psychedelic, never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, Bernard MacMahon’s experiential cinematic odyssey explores Led Zeppelin’s creative, musical, and personal origin story. The film is told in Led Zeppelin’s own words and is the first officially sanctioned film on the group.”

Becoming Led Zeppelin is solely in IMAX on February 5 and 6 and in cinemas in all places from February 7.
