The Treasury minister named in an anti-corruption investigation in Bangladesh has been questioned by officers, it has emerged.

Tulip Siddiq, the financial secretary to the Treasury, met a consultant from the Cabinet Office’s propriety and ethics crew on Thursday.

Ms Siddiq is alleged to have welcomed the official into her workplace and answered questions on a £10 billion nuclear energy plant deal.

The Treasury minister is alleged to imagine she is going through “trumped-up charges” and “completely politically motivated” allegations.

The Labour minister has been accused in Bangladesh of brokering a corrupt cope with Russia for the ability plant.

The Times reported Ms Siddiq’s rationalization concerning the Russia deal was accepted at face worth and the truth that she held the assembly doesn’t point out that there’s any type of civil service investigation into her.
