Fox News authorized analyst Jonathan Turley criticized Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s border czar, for suggesting that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) may face prosecution for instructing undocumented individuals their authorized rights.

“Such a prosecution would be an assault on free speech rights,” Turley posted on X. “While AOC has never been a defender of free speech, principle demands something more from the rest of us who value the First Amendment.”

“Just as VP Vance offered a powerful defense of free speech in Europe, this baseless threat undermines the high ground achieved in Munich,” he added. (In a surprising speech in Germany on Friday, Vice President JD Vance chastised European allies, accusing their governments of suppressing free speech.)

Homan and Ocasio-Cortez have traded barbs in latest days after the New York Democrat hosted a “Know Your Rights” webinar to show immigrants how they will shield themselves if they’re focused by Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.

Homan, a frontrunner of Trump’s mass deportation plans, urged on Thursday that Ocasio-Cortez may get “in trouble” for doing so.

“Is she crossing the line?” he requested on Fox News. “So, I’m working with the Department of Justice and finding out.”

The lawmaker didn’t seem too involved, firing again: “Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start.”

Homan doubled down on Monday, accusing the Democrat of attempting to “educate people on how they evade law enforcement.”

“I’ve asked DOJ, where is that line of impediment, of interference?” he stated on Fox News.

Everyone has rights beneath the Constitution, no matter their immigration standing, and it isn’t unlawful to inform individuals about these rights.

“Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on X Monday night time. “He can threaten me with jail & call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.”
