A flight from Newcastle International Airport was thrown into chaos and delayed after a drunk passenger compelled the airplane to taxi again from the runway simply earlier than take-off. District Judge Kate Meek clarified the restrictions of the magistrates’ courtroom concerning sentencing for being drunk on an plane, noting that extra extreme penalties would require crown courtroom involvement.

Judge Meek determined to escalate the matter to Newcastle Crown Court, highlighting the disruption brought on by Hewitt: “You caused a delay to the flight and a significant delay. Hewitt, of Prince Edward Road, South Shields, has been granted conditional bail and is scheduled to seem on the crown courtroom on April 7.
