Ten fireplace engines and round 70 firefighters responded to a hearth at {an electrical} substation on Nestles Avenue in Hayes.

A transformer throughout the substation was alight. There had been no stories of any accidents.

Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne mentioned: “This was a very visible and significant incident, and our firefighters worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to bring the fire under control as swiftly as possible.

“Thanks to their efforts and coordinated multi-agency response, we efficiently contained the fireplace and prevented additional unfold.

“We will maintain a presence at the scene throughout the day, assisting the National Grid as they assess the site.

“The fireplace has induced a widespread energy outage, affecting many houses, native companies, and Heathrow Airport. While energy has been restored to some properties, we proceed to work carefully with our companions to minimise disruption.

“Firefighters safely evacuated 29 people from neighbouring properties, and as a precaution, a 200-metre cordon was established, with around 150 people evacuated.

“Due to the numerous smoke, we strongly advise native residents to maintain their home windows and doorways closed, as some smoke will stay for quite a lot of hours in the present day. Scientific advisors will even be on-site this morning to conduct additional assessments and monitor the air high quality.

“Our Control Officers handled more than 200 emergency calls, providing guidance and reassurance to the public.

“As the morning progresses, disruption is predicted to proceed, and we urge folks to keep away from the realm at any time when potential.”

The Brigade was referred to as at 2323 and crews from Hayes, Heathrow, Hillingdon, Southall and surrounding fireplace stations had been mobilised to the scene. The fireplace was underneath management by 0628.

The Brigade’s fireplace investigators are working carefully with the Metropolitan Police Service on the investigation into the reason for the fireplace.
