It is not only an album, it is a declaration of artistic independence, on which the singer navigates with fluidity between different musical territories, from hip-hop to jazz, via neo-soul, hop trip, reggae, rock, dub and drum & bass, which all communicate, thanks to her signature, between raucous whispers, between raucous murmurs. “I do that factor, I do it actually,” she says on “Tardis (Hardest)”, where she summons the ghosts of Mary J Blige, Ms Dynamite and Lauryn Hill, when the opening piece “Bali Skit leaves 1” evokes a state of trance and voices of another world. Elsewhere, Greentea is groping a feeling of belonging on the synthpop “Nowhere Man”, carries luggage on the dark “My Neck” (with Wu-Lu) and seeks tranquility on the pulsed rhythm of “The End (Peace)”. The whole thing is the minds of Tricky, Amy Winehouse, Jorja Smith or Adele. It’s tasty.
