Turkey protests intensify as detained Istanbul mayor faces second day of questioning | EUROtoday

Defying a ban on public rallies, demonstrators took to the streets in Istanbul, Ankara and a number of other Turkish cities for a 3rd evening to protest the arrest  of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoglu, a well-liked opposition politician and key challenger to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan within the subsequent presidential race, presently scheduled for 2028.
