Sánchez: “We can no longer assume that the United States will protect our skies, our infrastructure and our borders. We must do it”

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured in Congress that Europe should “leave the blockade of melancholy” and should “accept the new situation” wherein it’s situated, referring to the departments between Europe and the United States since Donald Trump arrived on the White House. “We cannot assume that our heavens, our infrastructure, our borders will protect us. We have to do it,” mentioned Sánchez.

“We have to do it effectively and coordinated. The moment is now, we must recover the project of our founding parents and advance towards the integration of a European security and defense policy,” mentioned the president of the Government.

The problem, he added, “is how to do it.” In this regard, he mentioned that that is exactly the difficulty that monopolizes the controversy within the European Union and its establishments. “Last week the White Book of Defense was presented, in which several priorities are set, such as joint purchases, the aggregation of demand and the implementation of training, innovation and industry projects, which Spain supports,” mentioned Sánchez.
