A “community fridge” which goals to supply a foodbank-style service to scale back meals waste has opened in Derby.
Thrivemind Village in Iron Gate has partnered with quite a few organisations and is urging individuals to donate further objects so they don’t find yourself in landfill.

Simon Jones, director of Thrivemind Village, stated: “In the UK, we’re wasting tonnes and tonnes of food each year so this is great way to put that food to good use.”

He added: “There’s a cost-of-living crisis, we’ve had a difficult budget being announced, cuts to disability allowance, all sorts of things… it’s harder for people these days.
“We need to break the stigma for those who come alongside – they’re taking meals from our fridge to scale back meals waste, that’s what we’re placing the emphasis on.”
