Israel is increasing its offensive in Gaza to grab “large areas” of the Strip, the nation’s defence minister has stated, as he referred to as on Palestinians dwelling within the territory to “expel Hamas and return all hostages”.

Israel Katz stated the key enlargement of the navy operation was to “crush and clean the area of terrorists and terrorist infrastructure” and seize lands that might be added to what he referred to as the “safety zones of the State of Israel”.

Palestinian teams nonetheless maintain 59 Israelis taken hostage on 7 October 2023, of whom 24 are nonetheless believed to be alive, after nearly all of the hostages had been launched in a ceasefire settlement with the Israeli authorities.

The announcement comes simply days after Israel issued sweeping evacuation orders masking many of the southern Gaza metropolis of Rafah. The navy ordered Palestinians to go to Muwasi, a sprawl of tent camps alongside the coast.
