Gorilla statue thieves thwarted minutes after stealing £399 decoration | News | EUROtoday
Two thieves have been caught on CCTV stealing a big backyard gorilla decoration from an indoor market in Darlington final Tuesday (25 March).
Brian Rumley, 50, of no fastened abode, and Michael O’Brien, 52, of Arcadia Court, Darlington, stole the decoration, price £399, from one of many stalls earlier than fleeing with the gorilla to a flat simply off Skinnergate.
Darlington Borough Council CCTV operators noticed the pair, who alerted police. Officers apprehended them minutes later.
The pair have been arrested and charged with housebreaking.
Rumley was jailed for 16 weeks whereas O’Brien was jailed for 3 months, suspended for a 12 months.
