Trump fired McMaster throughout his first time period in 2018, saying in a tweet on the time that McMaster “will always remain my friend.”

But since then, McMaster has been a vocal critic of the president, calling him an “extremely disruptive person” and criticizing Trump’s relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

McMaster didn’t reply to a request for remark from CBS News.
