EY is being investigated over its audits of the Post Office in relation to the Horizon scandal from March 2015 to March 2018.

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the UK’s accounting regulator, stated it should examine whether or not EY met its requirements “with particular reference to matters related to the Horizon IT system”.

The software program developed by Fujitsu was on the coronary heart of the Post Office scandal that noticed a whole lot of postmasters wrongly convicted.

EY stated it takes its duties “extremely seriously” and will probably be “fully cooperating” with the FRC.

The FRC stated the latest public hearings carried out as a broader inquiry into the Horizon scandal didn’t cowl EY’s audits of the Post Office, so won’t be lined by its investigation.

More than 900 sub-postmasters had been prosecuted for stealing due to incorrect data from the Horizon laptop system. It has been referred to as the UK’s most widespread miscarriage of justice.

The Post Office itself took many instances to courtroom, prosecuting 700 folks between 1999 and 2015.
