Downton Abbey 3, now titled Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, is heartbreakingly set to be the final film within the movie and TV interval drama.

Taking place in 1930, our greatest guess is that the movie will see the stately residence’s future in critical jeopardy after the 1929 Wall Street Crash.

No doubt, Hugh Bonneville’s Lord Grantham and co will give you some plan to avoid wasting the pile by the top credit.

Set to hit cinemas this autumn, we’re nonetheless awaiting the trailer, which screened for a fortunate few at Cinema Con in Las Vegas earlier this month.

According to Screen Rant, the trailer was as follows: “Begins on a horse track with a shot of the Crawleys. Carson announces, ‘Welcome to 1930.’ We see Lady Mary and Edith a few times. Then, one by one, each of the original cast returns to Downton Abbey, with Lady Mary dressed in all red. Several shots of parties and everyone celebrating. It ends with Robert kissing his hand and then placing it on the side of the Abbey.”

The reporter added: “I’m predicting plenty of tears will be shed.”

Downton Abbey is launched in cinemas on September 12, 2025.
