On Tuesday, the American Association of Colleges and Universities revealed a letter signed by greater than 200 leaders of schools and universities — together with Jameson — that denounced the administration’s actions in the direction of greater schooling establishments as “unprecedented” federal outreach.

On Monday, Harvard University sued the Trump administration for freezing billions of {dollars} in federal grants. In a press release, Alan M. Garber, the college’s president, stated that the federal government’s “overreach” may have “severe and long-lasting” repercussions.

“Research that the government has put in jeopardy includes efforts to improve the prospects of children who survive cancer, to understand at the molecular level how cancer spreads throughout the body, to predict the spread of infectious disease outbreaks, and to ease the pain of soldiers wounded on the battlefield,” Garber stated.
