Sophie White, 23, out of the blue started slurring her speech throughout what was considered a typical dinner together with her three 12 months outdated daughter, Remi.
Rushed to hospital after struggling an sudden seizure, Sophie underwent a number of scans that exposed she had stage 4 Glioblastoma.
Reliving that fateful day, her mom Helen Schofield shared with Yorkshire Live: “We went out for a meal at a local pub.
“She began slurring her phrases. I believed she was messing round at first however then I realised she could not get her phrases out,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
Taken urgently to Rotherham Hospital on Thursday June 8, 2023, doctors scrambled to diagnose Sophie’s condition.
Reflecting on those moments of turmoil, Helen recounted: “They did just a few assessments and scans and so they mentioned they discovered one thing on her mind. So many docs have been saying various things, which was all fairly complicated and actually scary.”
Despite undergoing two surgeries on June 23, 2023, and July 2, 2024, which successfully removed 93 per cent of the tumour, and enduring numerous bouts of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Sophie’s body could not conquer the cancer.
On February 3, the family was hit with the heart-shattering revelation that their brave battle was in vain; Sophie’s life-saving treatment hadn’t worked.
Helen, 45, revealed the heartbreaking prognosis for her daughter: “She was given between 12 and 18 months to stay. It’s so horrible to speak about. How are you able to?
“Her tumour has not only grown but has now spread across to the other side of her brain, which now rules out any further surgery.”
However, Helen refuses to surrender, stating defiantly: “As a mother I will do everything I can to try and save her life,”.

In a determined bid to increase Sophie’s life, Helen started investigating potential therapy plans.
Helen mentioned: “After hours and hours of research, we have found a clinic in Germany who provide immunotherapy treatment which is a targeted treatment for her specific tumour.”
The IOZK Clinic in Cologne, famend for its specialists within the area of immunotherapy, provides mixed therapies.
“They combine an oncolytic virus and Sophie’s tumour material with dendritic cells to produce the personalised vaccine.
“The vaccine would then activate Sophie’s immune system to assist battle the tumour and get the cells again to good well being and kill the cancerous ones.”
Throughout this ordeal, Helen has commended Sophie’s remarkable resilience: “Whilst going by way of gruelling therapy to offer her as a lot time with him as attainable.

“She is an absolute warrior, she gets up every day and fights so hard against this illness to make the best life for Remi. She has such a positive attitude for life and she’s a fantastic mum.”
The household has managed to lift a staggering £90,000 to fund Sophie’s journeys to Germany for a session and her first therapy session.
Currently, they’re anxiously ready to see if the therapy may have the specified impact on Sophie.
Helen shared: “She’ll be having a scan in Sheffield around the first week of July. We might not see any improvement with the first scan, but we have been told that we should see improvement on the second.
“The therapy has a 65 per cent likelihood of working which I feel is sort of excessive, in order that’s why we did it. You wish to do completely no matter you’ll be able to.”

Hailing from Kimberworth Park, Helen and Sophie, along with their supportive community, are nearing their new fundraising target of £120,000.
With hope in her voice, Helen said: “We’ve had a few large massive fundraising galas for Sophie. We’re additionally engaged on the subsequent one, which goes to be on May 11.
“This Saturday, over 100 people are going on a sponsored walk and then we’re going back to our local pub. The whole community has just been incredible.
“Everyone locally has proven up for Sophie. We have all banded collectively for her.”
