Lancaster buying centre St Nicholas Arcades evacuated and bomb disposal squad referred to as in after ‘suspicious package’ discovered | EUROtoday

A buying centre in Lancaster has been evacuated following the invention of a suspicious package deal.

Lancashire Police stated a bomb disposal staff was on its method to the scene at St Nicholas Arcades on Monday morning.

Members of the general public have been urged to keep away from the world, and a few metropolis centre streets close by have been reported to be cordoned off.

A police spokesperson confirmed at 10:45am that the incident was ongoing, whereas a press release quoted by a number of retailers stated: “We currently have a cordon in place in Lancaster Gate, Lancaster.

“This was following a report we received at 6.32am that a suspicious package had been found near to a property.

“Colleagues from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are on their way and we ask people to avoid the area as a precaution.

“We will provide an update when we can.”

Great John Street remained closed between St Leonard’s Gate and Brock Street, LancsLive reported simply previous to 11am.

St Nicholas Arcades – identified domestically as St Nics – is described by Visit Lancashire as being “at the heart of Lancaster’s shopping experience”.

It is beforehand reported to have drawn round 4 million guests per 12 months.
