‘Double customary’ in France: ‘Whenever a mosque is attacked, no minister turns up’ | EUROtoday
A person suspected of fatally stabbing a younger Malian in a mosque in southern France and filming the sufferer’s agony has surrendered to police in Italy. Identified as 21-year-old Oliver Hadzovic by Italian police, and Olivier A. by French prosecutors, he was not pushed by anti-Islamic motives, his lawyer stated. The suspect claimed he “killed the first person he saw” and expressed no hostility towards Islam or mosques. François Picard discusses the case with creator and scholar Olivier Esteves. He is a Professor of British Studies and Political Science on the University of Lille.
