Dolan, a conservative with a sketchy previousis the president’s “favorite cardinal” and delivered the normal prayer at Trump’s first-term and second-term inaugurations. He can also be one in all 10 American cardinals eligible to vote within the Vatican conclave to elect the following pope on May 7.

Although it’s unlikely that Dolan or Trump will grow to be the top of the Catholic church, it didn’t cease Graham from publicly expressing his fantasy of President Chaos Monster having much more unbridled energy.

“I was excited to hear that President Trump is open to the idea of being the next Pope,” Graham wrote on X.

“This would truly be a dark horse candidate, but I would ask the papal conclave and Catholic faithful to keep an open mind about this possibility!”

He added, “The first Pope-U.S. President combination has many upsides. Watching for white smoke…. Trump MMXXVIII!”

I used to be excited to listen to that President Trump is open to the concept of being the following Pope. This would really be a darkish horse candidate, however I’d ask the papal conclave and Catholic devoted to maintain an open thoughts about this chance!

It’s unclear if Graham’s tweet was his concept of humor or if he was participating in unabashed bootlicking. But evidently McCain felt it was the latter.

“Lindsey – get a grip,” McCain wrote Tuesday whereas retweeting his submit.

Graham was as soon as a detailed buddy of McCain’s father, the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Meghan McCain had beforehand publicly likened Graham to an “uncle.”

But following the 2016 election, Graham swiftly shifted from a Trump critic to loyal apologist. This was regardless of Trump relentlessly attacking John McCain, even after his demise in 2018.

Since then, Meghan McCain has soured on Graham.

“Lindsey Graham may consider himself a member of my family,” Meghan McCain tweeted in 2021. “But he is not and hasn’t been for a very long time.”
