A brand new Second World War documentary that includes “vividly restored archival footage” will likely be launched on Netflix tomorrow, on May 5. The immersive movie will convey the interval of historical past to life and contains firsthand accounts of what Britain was like through the Blitz. Called Britain and The Blitzthe documentary is made by 72 Films and directed by Ella Wright.

Wright’s earlier work contains JFK: One Day in Americawhich was nominated for 5 Emmy Awards, and The Real Crown: Inside the House of Windsor. The trailer for Britain and the Blitz reveals colored footage of British cities through the Blitz, and we hear from these affected, together with one man who was a schoolchild through the interval and who described fleeing from a bomb.

The Blitz, which comes from the German time period Blitzkrieg, that means ‘lightning battle’, was a marketing campaign of sustained aerial bombing on British cities. It was narrated by John Boyega, the Star Wars actor, and featured restored footage in addition to testimony from males, ladies, troopers, and civilians. The documentary was based mostly on new analysis and eight,000 hours of unique archive footage from around the globe.
