British Steel is to “ramp up” manufacturing and create greater than 180 jobs.

The firm mentioned nearly all of the roles could be primarily based at Scunthorpe, with the remaining on the Teesside and Skinningrove crops.

Officials mentioned there could be a “wide variety” of alternatives, together with jobs in engineering, cleansing and office security, in addition to authorized roles.

Plans to make 2,700 employees redundant have been scrapped final month after the federal government took management of the corporate from its Chinese proprietor, Jingye.

Allan Bell, the corporate’s interim chief govt, mentioned the brand new roles would assist to “build stronger futures” for British Steel and the UK economic system.

An open day for potential candidates might be held on the Scunthorpe Conference Centre, on Brigg Road, on 17 May between 10:00 and 16:00 BST.

Last month, the federal government handed an emergency regulation to take management of British Steel amid accusations that Jingye was planning to change off two blast furnaces in Scunthorpe.

The closure of the furnaces would have left the UK with out the potential to supply “virgin” metal, which is utilized in main development tasks similar to new buildings and railways.
