Travel chaos at Stansted airport as flights delayed | UK | News | EUROtoday
Stansted Airport flights have been delayed after their IT system reported “issues” earlier than 6am this morning (May 11). Check-in, baggage and safety have been all affected by the technical drawback. Pictures from the airport present lengthy queues forming within the airport, with many sharing that their flights have left with out them.
The airport’s official account shared a message on X round 8am saying: “Our teams are working hard to fully restore operations following the IT issue that impacted our systems earlier this morning. “While the difficulty has been resolved, some flights should be topic to delays. We apologise for the inconvenience this may increasingly trigger and advise passengers to verify the standing of their flights with their airways earlier than travelling to the airport. “We hope to have all systems fully resolved soon and will provide another update shortly.”
No reason behind the IT system problem has been revealed presently. However, passengers on the airport have replied, saying the airport is in “chaos”.
“The airport is chaos, staff don’t know what to do,” one passenger replied. “People are sending passengers to the wrong drop off, tensions are high as they struggle to find order.
“Most flights are struggling to get their baggage loaded into the planes attributable to 2 belts being operational.”
Some airlines, including Ryanair, have told passengers to go home, and passengers are asking the airport who will pay their compensation.
“What occurs if we will’t move safety?” another asked, concerned that their plane was leaving soon and no one was around to help. “I’ve been within the queue for greater than an hour now…”
Another has already given up on his flight: “Holiday off to a terrific begin… gave up. Stansted in meltdown. Came house and booked an easyJet flight from Gatwick later. You know these Karen tweets about ‘nobody giving us data’ seems that could be a factor and it’s very infuriating! #stansted”.
