The new South Korean president Lee Jae-Myung has promised to restart the talks with North Korea and to strengthen the trilateral partnership with the United States and Japan, outlining the important thing political aims of its five-year mandate.

In his inaugural speech on the National Assembly, Lee stated that his authorities will face the potential assaults of North Korea with a “strong deterrence” primarily based on the stable army alliance between South Korea and the United States.
