Police have descended on the Northern Ireland city of Ballymena for a second evening of rioting. Footage shared on-line reveals masked protesters hurling fireworks, glass bottles and different objects at riot police and PSNI autos. Responding, the PSNI have used a water cannon on a protest within the Clonavon Terrace space.

Violence broke out following a peaceable protest on Monday in response to an alleged sexual assault. Police stated 15 folks had been injured within the chaos which was described as “racist thuggery” geared toward ethnic minorities and officers. Riot authorities have been re-deployed to the County Antrim city tonight and police have suggested members of the general public to keep away from the realm.
