Starmer defends welfare U-turn ‘in the course of the talk’

Sir Keir Starmer has defended final night time’s climbdown on his welfare reforms, claiming the ultimate invoice was “consistent with the principles I set out throughout”.

She added: “This is the first prime minister in history to propose a bill to save money, who ended up with a bill which costs money.”
