A kitchen in a four-star migrant resort has been used to arrange and dispatch meals by Deliveroo and Uber Eats, it has been revealed. Footage on YouTube reveals Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, getting used to arrange quick meals orders in what has been described as a “misuse” of asylum lodging.
The resort, which is owned by EC4 Hotel Ltd, has a profitable contract with the federal government who spends hundreds of thousands of kilos every day to accommodate asylum seekers awaiting course of. “After being made aware of the potential relationship between the hotel group running the virtual brand and the Home Office, we suspended them from our platform while we investigate further.”
An Uber Eats spokesperson stated: “We have suspended this restaurant’s access to our platform and are fully investigating.”
