Good morning,

Welcome to the Weekly Newsletter from France.

I Hope You and Yours Are Well.

Here, France is in full summer time temper, with flea markets Every weekend and galore festivals, and for me, it means time at residence for size Than Usual.

I spend All Year Traveling Around France, Visiting Destinations in Different Seasons, Writing About Them for the Good Life France Magazine, for the Website and for a Book I’m Writing (More On That in a Few Months when i am Ready to Talk About It, At the second, very a lot a notes format!). But in July and August, I have a tendency to remain put. Our children come to go to; The Hard Work Mark, My Husband, and I Put Into Growing Vegetables Comes To Fruitition, and Sometimes We Help the Local Farmers With Their Work.

This yr, However, I will likely be tinge a weekend in mid-summer to return on the road-or relatively the canal. I’m Heading to Champagne to Take A Cruise On The Marne Canal and Visit Some Of The Best-Known and Lesser-Known Champagne Areas from Hautvillers-The ‘Birthplace’ Of The Bubbles, To Meaux, Famous for Its Cheese. Come with me a share pictures and movies on instagram (Though sadly the tastings cannot be shared)!

A Couple of Weeks AGO, I Helped Claudette, My Nonagenarian Neighbour to Make Walnut Wine, Wine Wine, A Fortified Form of Wine. She had her son-in-in-Law, Jean-Claude, Collect som Nuts and a handful of leaves on June 24 from a gnarly outdated walnut tree down somewhat grime across the nook from the place we dwell. It’s a convention right here to select their that day because it’s st john’s day (John the baptist – they usually’re Called st john’s walluts). The Green Nuts Are Steeped in Red Wine and Alcohol (Usally Vodka or Brandy) to Which Claudette Adds Sugar, Lemon Rind and Spices. It’s then saved for 3 months, Filted, Left for Another MONTH AND BOTTLED – In Time to Give AS GIFTS AT CHRISTMAS AND SOME KEPT FOR DRINKING IN Tiny GLASSES – A TAST OF SUMMER IN WINTER.

It was a sweltering sizzling day as we sat in claudette’s kitchen mixing the substances and preserving cool together with her do-it-yourself lemonade. I TOLD Her About Some of the Legends I’d make about St. John’s Day and the Tradition of Making Walnut Wine, An Ancient Artisanal Tradition. In Italy, it was stated that walluts ought to be picked by a barefoot Woman climbing the tree – we each agreed that is not going to occur right here in the course of Nowhere, Rural Northern France. But She Did Like the Custom of Eating Snails On June 24 Whic Goes Back to the Days of Rome and a Pagan Festival that Became Christianised – and I Agreed That Even Though I Am Not A Fan Of Escargot, Next Year I Would Join Her in consuming them that we’ve got our personal Making Session!

Wherver you’re – i wiseh you an excellent weekend from a heat and Welcoming Corner of France, the place the wasnder is out in full bloom.

Kisses,
Janine
