Almost two dozen French city halls raised the Palestinian flag on Monday regardless of the Interior Ministry’s warning, forward of President Emmanuel Macron’s deliberate recognition of a Palestinian state on the UN. The transfer sparked a political conflict, as left-wing mayors hailed it as a historic gesture for peace whereas the hardline Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau insisted on neutrality in public service.
