CCTV footage has captured the second two people eliminated a St George’s flag from outdoors the house of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty’s mom, Caroline Peaty, earlier than allegedly setting it on hearth. The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, September 21, within the city of Uttoxeter, in Staffordshire, the place two white males had been recorded approaching the property. Caroline Peaty stated following the incident: “I was disgusted, really, because I’m proud of our country and I’m proud of the people that fought for our country. It’s nothing to do with racism, this is our country, lots of young men lost their lives for us to have the freedom to fly our flags.

“It’s OK for [the vandals] to damage folks’s property, take issues down with out permission – so what does that say to our youthful technology? That they’ll do what they need?”

She explained that she has put up the Union Jack flag in her garden for a personal reason, in honour of her father and her husband, who both served in the military.

She added: “I’m proud to wave the nation’s flag. I’ve it as much as rejoice Adam’s achievements but in addition my household’s army service. My father and my husband had been within the army and I’m pleased with what they did and wish to present that.”

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We acquired a report at 9.20pm on Sunday (21 September) of a bunch of males eradicating flags and setting hearth to them on Byrds Lane, Uttoxeter.

“Officers attended the scene and reviewed CCTV footage of the area at the time. Anyone with any information which might help our investigation is asked to contact us.

The incident comes amid growing nationwide rigidity over the general public show of English and British flags.
