In an interview with Israeli tv, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his hope for sustainable peace within the area. “Today we are very happy that the bloodshed is over,” Abbas advised Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 on Thursday – interviews by Abbas with an Israeli broadcaster are uncommon. “We hope it stays that way and that peace, security and stability will prevail between us and Israel.”
With regard to the settlement between Israel and the novel Islamic Palestinian group on a ceasefire within the Gaza Strip, Abbas spoke of a “historic moment”. He hopes “that we can end the bloodshed that is taking place in our country, whether in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank or East Jerusalem.”

Israel rejects Abbas’s Palestinian Authority (PA) participation in a future authorities within the coastal strip.
