Plane crash reported close to Louisville airport as police reply to ‘active scene of fire and debris’ | EUROtoday

A UPS aircraft crashed close to Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday night, inflicting accidents and sending a plume of fireside and black smoke into the sky.

Officials from a number of companies are responding to the crash, the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department wrote on X.

Police described the location of the crash close to Fern Valley and Grade Lane as an “active scene with fire and debris,” with a number of accidents reported.

A UPS MD-11 plane crashed round 5:15pm native time after the aircraft departed the airport, based on the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Honolulu-bound aircraft had three crew members onboard, based on UPS.

“At this time, we have not confirmed any injuries/casualties,” the corporate wrote in an announcement.

The Louisville airport is a serious hub for the corporate.

Aerial video of the crash web site shared by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation exhibits a raging fireplace and an industrial-looking constructing with injury to its roof.

The cargo aircraft was carrying 280,000 gallons of gasoline on the time of the crash, a spokesperson for Mayor Craig Greenberg informed The New York Times.

The jet reached an altitude of about 175 ft then started to fall sharply, based on flight information tracker Flightradar24.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will examine the crash.

The airfield has briefly been closed because the state of affairs develops, based on officers there.

The public is urged to steer clear of the location of the crash, and a shelter-in-place order has been issued for places together with the 5-mile radius across the airport. Minors Lane Elementary college students, whose college is inside the radius, had been pressured to evacuate.

“The situation is serious,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear wrote on X. “Please pray for the families affected. I’m headed to Louisville now.”

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy known as the crash “heartbreaking.”

“Please join me in prayer for the Louisville community and flight crew impacted by this horrific crash,” he wrote on X.

The crash comes at a time of intense pressure on the U.S. air transit system in the course of the ongoing authorities shutdown.

Air visitors controllers have been pressured to work with out pay, and staffing shortages have precipitated delays at airports across the nation.
