American retirees residing in France achieved a small miracle: a majority was shaped within the National Assembly on Saturday, November 8, as a part of the examination of the Social Security finance invoice (PLFSS). With 176 votes for and 79 in opposition to, the LR, RN, MoDem and Renaissance (EPR) deputies joined the strategy of their Horizons colleague François Gernigon (Maine-et-Loire) to vote on the precept of a “minimum participation” international retirees who profit from a significant card from three months of presence in France.

The Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Amélie de Montchalin, issued an opinion of knowledge, specifying that the federal government “took this subject very seriously”. While the National Rally, by way of a sub-amendment, hoped to increase the spectrum to all international nationals, the minister marked out the perimeter by limiting it to the G20 international locations. “We plan to revise the conventions that exist with these countries so that there is this participation. Because very often the reciprocal does not exist”she added.
