Leicestershire Police have confirmed {that a} grenade was present in a field that was being donated.

They additionally revealed that groups from the military’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal had been referred to as to the scene.

In a press release, a Leicestershire Police spokesperson mentioned: “We were called to Gladstone Street in Leicester just after 2.05pm this afternoon (18 November) after concerns were raised about a grenade that was found in a box that was being donated to a charity shop.

“In the pursuits of security, there are some highway closures in place within the space, round a carpark. The military’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit has been referred to as to help officers.”
