A sixth-form pupil who died in a crash involving a minibus carrying 9 youngsters has been named – as her college issued a press release on the “unimaginable tragedy”.
Eleanor Hague, 16, often called Ellie, from Sherburn in Elmet, died within the incident involving a white Mercedes Sprinter minibus and a Hyundai i10 automobile close to Tadcaster Grammar School on Monday at 12.30pm.
Ellie, a sixth-form pupil on the college, was a passenger on the minibus which was carrying 9 youngsters aged 16 to 18 – each from her college and Sherburn High School.
Another teenage lady was taken to hospital with severe accidents that aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
The different passengers and the person driving the minibus sustained minor accidents, police stated.
In a press release issued on social media, Tadcaster Grammar School stated: “We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred yesterday which concerned the tragic lack of considered one of our college students.
“Our heartfelt thoughts are with everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy. We are totally committed to providing every member of our school community with unwavering support and empathy as we come together as one.
“Appropriate assist might be obtainable on web site tomorrow, with college open to all college students and workers.”
The driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old lady from Leeds, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting loss of life by harmful driving and inflicting severe damage by harmful driving, the power stated.
She had been launched on conditional bail.
Police had been interesting for witnesses and anybody with dashcam footage to contact the power.
