ECB, unclear goal of Bank of Italy’s gold rule | EUROtoday
«It shouldn’t be clear to the ECB what the concrete goal of the proposed provision is. For this purpose, and within the absence of explanations relating to the aim of the proposed provision, the Italian Authorities are invited to rethink the proposed provision, additionally with the intention to protect the unbiased train of the basic duties related to the ESCB of the Bank of Italy pursuant to the Treaty”.
This is what the ECB states in an opinion sent to the Mef yesterday evening, 2 December, on the amendment to the maneuver presented by FdI on the Bank of Italy’s gold reserves. The opinion, anticipated by Corriere della Serais published on the website of the European Central Bank.
