The UK’s promoting watchdog challenged the manufacturers over the usage of the phrase “sustainable” in paid-for Google adverts which weren’t backed up by proof of their sustainability.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) recognized three adverts from the retailers promising prospects “sustainable materials”, “sustainable style” and “sustainable clothing”.
The UK’s promoting code states that the idea of claims about environmental sustainability have to be clear and “supported by a high level of substantiation”.
In every case, it requested the businesses for proof to again up the claims in regards to the sustainability of the merchandise.
