A livid UK resident has in contrast a uncared for road in Merseyside to “the moon”, accusing the native council of “doing nothing” to repair his every day “nightmare”. Jacob Maguire, who lives in Prescot, stated a road close to his residence has grow to be “flooded and full of potholes” in recent times.

“It’s flooded, full of potholes and just really bad,” he advised the Liverpool Echo. “It’s worse in the winter when there’s more rain and the ground turns muddy, but also hardens in the freezing cold and becomes slippery.”

“The council are saying they’ve got no money to do a parking access scheme, even though they know it needs doing and nearly every other close, when you look around here, has been done,” he added.

“But ours has been missed off. It’s a nightmare, especially at the minute. We can’t even get down to put the bins out.”

Mr Maguire stated council officers had travelled down to have a look at the spot, however advised him the required funds to repair it weren’t obtainable.

“It’s been neglected, really,” he continued. “We have about 10 houses in this close and none of us can park by our houses. Some of us have driven up and had to make do for now, but outside, it looks like the moon.

“There’s aged individuals who reside up right here and so they cannot stroll up, it is actually unhealthy. I actually hope the council can kind this, particularly for the older individuals.”

A council spokesperson said: “We are conscious of the difficulty on Homer Road and have been in earlier contact with the resident. The drawback relates particularly to a footpath and grassed space which have been broken by autos driving over them.

“We are currently looking into upgrading the drainage and making the necessary repairs to the footway and verge. This work will be undertaken in the New Year.”
