Critics accused Donald Trump of exhibiting a definite lack of empathy along with his feedback on the mass capturing at Brown University, wherein two individuals had been killed this weekend.

But the president then mentioned:

“Things can happen, so to the nine injured, get well fast. And to the families of those two who are no longer with us, I pay my deepest regards and respects from the United States of America. Thank you very much. It’s a very important thing to say. And we mean it.”

While Trump did ship his “deepest regards,” the “things can happen” line nonetheless drew anger on social media.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) press workplace led the cost with its newest slam of Trump, merely writing on behalf of the potential Democratic 2028 presidential candidate: “No words.”
