The UK unemployment charge within the three months to October has elevated to five.1%, in accordance with official figures.

That marked an increase from 5% for the three months to September.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) stated the info mirrored a “subdued labour market”.

Average wage progress was 4.6%, excluding bonuses, between August and October 2025.

Annual common earnings progress was 3.9% for the personal sector and seven.6% for the general public sector, throughout the three-month interval.

Wage progress adjusted for inflation was 0.5%, excluding bonuses.

Liz McKeown, the ONS director of financial statistics, stated the figures point out “a weakening labour market”.

“The number of employees on payroll has fallen again, reflecting subdued hiring activity.

“The fall in payroll numbers and improve in unemployment has been seen significantly amongst some youthful age teams,” Ms McKeown stated.
