A toddler has died after a home hearth in Kent whereas a second baby was taken to hospital.

Emergency providers have been referred to as to White Admiral Way within the village of Hamstreet, Ashford, shortly after noon on Sunday following reviews of a home hearth.

Crews confirmed one baby had died within the “intense” blaze, whereas firefighters rescued a second baby from the semi-detached property.

In an announcement, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) mentioned: “Sadly, one child died at the scene and another has been taken to hospital.”

A spokesperson added an investigation into the reason for the hearth is presently ongoing.

People within the space have been initially requested to shut their home windows and doorways as crews labored by the afternoon to deal with the flames.

Ann Millington, chief government of the hearth service, mentioned: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with everyone affected by this tragic incident, especially the child’s loved ones.
