The 2014 movie Whiplash, which is closely impressed by the director’s experiences in a aggressive jazz band, stars Miles Teller as drummer Andrew Neiman and J.Okay. Simmons as his abusive conductor, Terence Fletcher. Whiplash follows Andrew as he goes to excessive lengths each mentally and bodily to be the core drummer in Fletcher’s elite music conservatory. Fletcher pushes Andrew to his limits in some uncomfortable scenes by a mix of torture and motivation because the latter needs to be one of many biggest drummers of all time.
