Donald Trump returns to speak about Venezuela. “With the proceeds of our new oil deal” Venezuela “will only purchase products made in the United States.” American President Donald Trump wrote it on Truth Social. The purchases will embrace, amongst different issues, American agricultural merchandise, medicines manufactured within the United States, medical gadgets and gear to enhance Venezuela’s electrical energy grid and vitality amenities.” In other words, explains the president, “Venezuela is dedicated to doing enterprise with the United States of America as a significant companion: a smart and really optimistic alternative for the Venezuelan folks and for the United States”.

American control over Venezuela could last years. US President Donald Trump declared this during an interview with the New York Times, replying that ”only time will tell” how long the US Administration will have direct supervision of Venezuela. Three months, six months, a year? ”I would say much longer,” Trump responded. In the meantime, he added, Caracas is giving Washington ”everything we deem necessary”. In an interview that lasted nearly two hours, Trump explained: ”We’re going to very profitably rebuild” Venezuela, ”we’re going to use oil and we’re going to take oil. We will bring down oil prices and give money to Venezuela, which it desperately needs.” As to why he acknowledged Vice President Delcy Rodriguez as chief from Venezuela and never activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado, Trump averted answering. Likewise, he didn’t say whether or not he had spoken to Rodriguez. Quoting US Secretary of State Rubio, Trump mentioned “Marco talks to her all the time. I will tell you that we are in constant communication with her and the administration.”

A long-term plan for oil

The Trump administration is developing a plan to establish long-term control over Venezuelan oil, with the aim of reducing crude prices to $50 a barrel, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

“President Trump and his advisers are preparing a sweeping initiative to exert dominant control over Venezuela’s oil industry for the next few years, and, according to sources familiar with the dossier, the president has told his staff that he believes these measures could help reduce the price of oil to his preferred level of $50 a barrel,” the newspaper reported.

According to sources cited by the WSJ, the plan requires the United States to determine a point of management over state oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela SA (Pdvsa), together with shopping for and promoting most of its oil manufacturing. “If successful, this plan could effectively give the United States control of most of the Western Hemisphere’s oil reserves,” the newspaper famous.
