A drama written, directed, and produced by Sofia Coppola, has been branded her ‘best film’ but – and is now obtainable to observe at no cost on BBC iPlayer. The American biographical drama movie stars Hollywood heartthrob, Jacob Elordi, and Golden Globe nominated actress, Cailee Spaeny.

Priscilla, first launched in 2023, aired on BBC2 firstly of January 2026 and is now obtainable and remains to be listed as ‘Available for 1 month’ on BBC iPlayer. The docudrama follows the difficult life story of Priscilla Presley, spouse of the notorious ‘King of Rock and Roll’, Elvis Presley. The drama explores the couple’s notoriously troublesome relationship and relies on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me.

The star of the biopic, Priscilla Presley, additionally served as an government producer for the movie.

Throughout the movie, Coppola portrays the evolution of the well-known couple’s relationship, ranging from Priscilla’s youth. Through Cailee Spaeny’s depiction of the character, the movie shares insights into Priscilla’s lesser-known expertise throughout Elvis’s journey of rising fame and success.

The movie earned Cailee Spaeny the Volpi Cup for Best Actress on the eightieth Venice International Film Festival in September 2023.

Priscilla holds a profitable 84% on Rotten Tomatoes with one fan praising the director specifically.

They mentioned: “This might be Sofia Coppola’s best film, and the film she has been working towards her entire career. When the film ended, I thought, ‘That was pretty good.’ But then it stuck with me.

“And after mulling it over for a week or two, it might be a masterpiece.”

One five-star reviewer wrote: “A fascinating insight into the life of a very well-loved superstar, and a timid young girl.”

“Everything, from the direction to the acting, and to the costumes, was executed with perfection and elegance. Cailee Spaeny’s performance was outstanding, and her articulating her body language to say something without needing her voice was truly captivating.

“Jacob Elordi perfectly delivered the environment needed for Elvis Presley, the watcher both being disgusted by his actions, but still enamoured by his charm and charisma.

“No notes. Sofia Coppola, you did it again.”

While the film received a slightly lower rating by comparison on IMDb at 6.4 stars out of ten, reviewers still praised the film with one fan warning others not to compare the film with Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic.

The fan said, if they were to compare, they felt that “there are an equal number of ways that Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla offers deeper insights into Elvis and Priscilla Presley and their very famous relationship.”

The IMDb user praised Jacob Elordi’s performance in particular, writing: “Without even opening his mouth, Elordi embodied the essence of Elvis with his mannerisms and the way he carried himself.”

They concluded: “Priscilla is a subtle piece of art from Sofia Coppola. Cailee Spaeny is a marvellous revelation while Jacob Elordi turns in a subdued, more complex version of Elvis.”
