President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that he should have a job in selecting Iran’s subsequent chief.

In an interview with Axiosthe president said that Mojtaba Khamenei, the 56-year-old son of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — who was killed in U.S.-Israeli strikes — is the probably to imagine management. But he made clear that he’s in opposition to this consequence.

“They are wasting their time. Khamenei’s son is a lightweight,” Trump stated. “I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela.”

Rodriguez was sworn in because the performing president of Venezuela in January after the U.S. army swooped into Caracas, captured then-President Nicolas Maduro and transported him to New York to face trial on drug prices. Following Rodriguez’ assumption of the presidency, Trump referred to as Venezuela “our new friend and partner” and stated the U.S. has been supplied hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil by her authorities.

The Republican president instructed Axios that he won’t settle for a brand new chief in Iran who would perform Khamenei’s agenda.

“Khamenei’s son is unacceptable to me. We need somebody that may carry concord and peace to Iran,” Trump stated.
