Joaquín Sabina bids farewell to his buddy Alfredo Bryce Echenique with two poems: “Naughty pen, English tonsils” | Culture | EUROtoday

Semi-colons, language pageant, air mailbox,
rubber bullets, strains with the aroma of Voltaire’s armchair,
moon by day, tears of pleasure with out cobwebs,
chabulerías, Inés del alma mia, Martín Romaña.
Naughty pen, English tonsils, pen with buts,
desk wine, your Tarzan is my Caesar with out a downpour,
yours is my home, little satanic baby,
ice that burns, teardrops that marry Doña Anita.
Crazy Havana, Cádiz in carnivals, Latin neighborhood
Lima that castles the cardinal factors of my future
Lope, Quevedo and the one-armed man from Lepanto do not trouble me
heal from worry with the tune of Alfredo Bryce Echenique.
