Former SPD chief Franz Müntefering finds sort phrases for Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s administration and requires his assist. Müntefering stated within the ARD program “Maischberger” that he thought Merz accepted his position “quite well”. “You have to help him,” added the 86-year-old, who like Merz comes from the Sauerland.

When requested who may do that, Müntefering replied: “The entire government, all the parties, everyone who wants democracy.” He believes that Merz is able to pursue good democratic politics. “And we shouldn’t all stand around and laugh maliciously and say: ‘Oh look, he can’t do that’ and so on,” warned the ex-vice chancellor in Angela Merkel’s (CDU) cupboard.
