Full assertion from the London Fire Brigade:

“Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to vehicles on fire on Highfield Court in Golders Green.

“Four automobiles had been broken by fireplace. Multiple cylinders on the automobiles have exploded and induced home windows to interrupt in an adjoining block of flats. No accidents are reported.

“The Brigade’s 999 Control officers received the first of 56 calls alerting them to the fire at 0140. They mobilised fire crews from Hendon, West Hampstead, Mill Hill, Willesden and Kentish Town fire stations. The fire was under control at 0306.

“The reason for the fireplace is beneath investigation by Met police and London Fire Brigade.”
