After racist feedback focusing on him, the mayor of Saint-Denis requires the closure of CNews | EUROtoday

Denouncing “an increasingly racist society”, the brand new mayor of Saint-Denis, Bally Bagayoko, known as on Wednesday April 1, in an interview with AFP, for the closure of the CNews channel, on which polemical remarks focusing on him had been made and whereas he’s the sufferer of a hate marketing campaign.
Faced with “racism which is more asserted and which is almost unbridled”, the LFI mayor of the second largest metropolis in Île-de-France after Paris believes that “Arcom must be much more severe” in direction of the channel and that justice should be “much more frank”.
“Are we obliged to have a media offer with racist channels like CNews and others? I say no”, he declared a number of days after the remarks geared toward him and which outraged the left, but additionally the federal government, and for which the audiovisual regulator was contacted.

A name for a rally
Friday, throughout a debate on CNews dedicated to the primary days in workplace of Bally Bagayoko, elected within the first spherical of municipal elections on March 15, the presenter requested if the mayor of this commune of Seine-Saint-Denis, within the northern suburbs of Paris, “essay[ait] to push the limits.
“Surely there is a little of that. Now, it is important to remember that homo sapiens, we are social mammals and of the great ape family. And therefore, in any community, in any tribe, our hunter-gatherer ancestors lived in tribes, there is a leader whose mission is to establish his authority,” replied psychologist Jean Doridot on set.
On Saturday, the Bolloré group channel once again found itself at the heart of a controversy, after remarks by philosopher Michel Onfray attributing to Bally Bagayoko the attitude of a “dominant male” for having called for “allegiance” after his election.
Following these comments openly comparing him to a monkey, Bally Bagayoko, of Malian origin, announced the filing of a complaint and called for a “massive rally” towards racism on Saturday at 2 p.m. in entrance of Saint-Denis City Hall.
